Creating a Resource Record

In Sierra, enter the "Catalog ERM" function.

Click the button for "New" record.

Select template if applicable.

Remember:

Database Name: displays in the catalog and is searchable.

Alt Resource Name: also displays in the catalog and is searchable.

Database ID: comes from Serials Solutions as a match point for holdings loads!

Database type: Try to select only one, if possible.

Database format: Try to select only one, if possible.

Description: displays in the catalog; try to be brief.

Subject: Use the drop-down box with controlled vocabulary.  
If you type something else in the box, it will be searchable but not automatically added
to the drop-down list that we currently have on our website.

Note: this is not visible to the public and can have any helpful informaiton

Access information: this field is visible to the public and can be repeated.  
We include authentication, special instructions if needed, and whether the resource is availble to all users or a subgroup.

User support: this field is not visible to the end-user and can include any helpful information.  Any URLs will be clickable in Sierra.  We put "help" and "vendor site" URLs in this field.

Usage Statistics: fill in all fields (do NOT put "same as admin")

Administration: fill in all fields (do NOT put "same as usage")

Public Note: this is important and is the text for the resource link when searching a title so it should match Database name
