1843 - 1879

December 2, 1843

 Incorporation of the Memphis Conference Female Institute (MCFI). 

March 1846

First mention of the MCFI library in the minutes of the constitution of the Young Ladies Lyceum of the MCFI, organization in charge of library operations.

1854

A West wing is added to the original MCFI building.

1856 

Beginning of the Euzelian Society of the MCFI, which maintained the same library previously operated by the Young Ladies Lyceum.

1874

Mention of the MCFI library as one of the best libraries in Tennessee in the 1874-75 Catalog of the Memphis Conference Female Institute – this library might have derived from the Euzelian Society’s library.
