We celebrate World Oceans Day to reflect on our environmental impact of the oceans. By increasing our knowledge of the ocean ecosystem, we can plan to live more sustainably!
Here are 3 Facts about the Ocean from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration:
1. Scientist estimate that 50-80% of the oxygen production on the Earth comes from the Ocean
2. An oceanographer studies the ocean. Oceanography covers many topics including marine life and ecosystems, ocean circulation, and the chemical and physical properties of the ocean
3. The Atlantic Ocean covers an area of approximately 41,105,000 square miles
As we head into Summer, enjoy this selection of titles all about oceans, especially if you plan on heading to the beach soon!
