COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is an illness caused by a virus. This virus is a new coronavirus that has spread throughout the world. There are now two authorized and recommended vaccines to prevent COVID-19 in the United States.The vaccines are being used under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA found that the vaccines met the scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality needed to support EUAs.
