Sandbox Updates

LATEST!

We are happy to announce the reopening of the sandbox creatorspace on the first floor of McWherter Library as of January 29, 2024. We will be working in the coming weeks to reach full operational status. Please stay tuned for further updates and drop by to visit the space! In the meantime, we’ve started a new podcasting studio for all University students, staff, and faculty to start their very own podcasts: Studio 224! If you would like to be able to use Studio 224, please go here for our orientation and quiz to get authorized to make reservations. And to reserve time in the space, go to our Reservations page . Thank you for your patience on the main sandbox space, and we hope you get a chance to try out our awesome new Studio 224!

About the sandbox

Located on the UofM Main Campus in McWherter Library, the sandbox is a collection of collaborative spaces and technology available to all UofM students and employees. The sandbox spaces include a Video Production Studio, a Podcast Production Studio, an Audio Production Studio, a Presentation Practice Studio, and a Creatorspace that includes 3D printers, a laser cutter, gaming corner, workshop space, and more. To learn more, visit our Creatorspace & Studios page. To reserve any of our technology or spaces, visit our Reservation page. To be authorized to use our 3D printers, laser cutter, and studios, you must take an orientation. To learn more, visit our Orientations & Workshops page. The sandbox also includes technology that can be checked out for free with your UofM ID from McWherter's 1st Floor Check Out Desk and brought home with you. Our Check Out Technology includes laptops, art tablets, audio recorders, calculators, cameras, charger cords, headphones, microphones, projectors, video games, and more. To view a full list and learn more, visit our Check Out Technology page. Questions? Contact the sandbox committee at thesandbox@memphis.edu.
