The STEM ED Caucus seeks to strengthen STEM education at all levels (K-12, higher education and workforce) by providing a forum for Congress and the science, education and business communities to discuss challenges, problems, and solutions related to STEM education.  This website provides important STEM information regarding legislation, news and events.

Next Generation Science Standards

On Tuesday, April 9, 2013, the final Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), a new set of voluntary, rigorous, and internationally benchmarked standards for K-12 science education, were released.

The Federal Role in STEM Education

In March 2013, the National Science Foundation (NSF) convened a group of educators and education researchers at the STEM Smart Schools conference at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.  Steve Robinson, Special Assistant for the White House Domestic Policy Council, concluded the conference by discussing the Federal Role in Smart STEM Schools.   Robinson mentioned that one of the most powerful ways to improve the quality of STEM education is through empowering teachers to teach with passion. Videos, powerpoints, and other resources from the Baltimore STEM Smart conference and previous events are available online.
