Dual Enrollment

A guide to help you navigate the print and online resources available to you at McWherter Library.

 Off Campus Access

In order to access the library's electronic resources off campus you will need your University of Memphis username and password. If you already access UMail, MyMemphis, etc, then you will use the same username and password to access the library's resources. If you do not know your University of Memphis username and password then follow the below instructions to "initialize" your account and get your username and password set up.

Username & Password Set-Up Instructions:

  • In order to set up your account you will need your Account Code from your acceptance letter.
  • With your Account Code go to:
  • Click on Initialize Your Account on the right.
  • Enter your Account Code and Birth Date and click on Continue.
  • Your Username will be displayed, copy it, and hit continue.
  • Set up your 3 security questions and hit continue.
  • Create your password and make sure to follow the rules for your password on the bottom of the screen.
  • Now you have your University username and password that you can use to access UMail, MyMemphis, and the library's resources.

Special Privileges Card

The High School Special Privileges Card is available to area high school students whose research requires access to the University Libraries' collection. With the card you can check out up to 5 books for a 14 day period. Please note that the checked out materials have to be returned back to McWherter Library. 

How to get a Special Privileges card: 

  • Fill out and submit to the Check-Out Desk the High School Special Privileges registration form
    • The form will require your parent/ guardian signature if you are under 18. 
  • Once the completed form is submitted, you can use your school ID to check out materials from the University Library since,as a dual enrollment student, you will be in our system.
