Business Source Premier - Provides full text for over 2,800 scholarly business journals.

Small Business Collection  - Search journal articles & trade publications for information on small business. 

Business Insights: Essentials  - Provides full text for more than 2,800 business publications. Sources include academic journals, trade publications, magazines, newspapers, industry and product reports, monographs, SWOT analyses, and more.

PsycINFO 1887-Present - Huge database on psychology which includes consumer behavior and psychographic analysis.

IBISWorld - Includes industry research reports that provide a strategic insight and analysis for over 1,000 US industries.

 Census of Governments - Includes information on finance, payrolls, taxes, and expenditures for state & local governments.

Analyze a geographic area using Census Tract Data:

  1. The process starts with the Bureau of the Census American FactFinder
  2. Locate a Census Tract by doing an "Address Search" on the right hand column of the American FactFinder homepage.  Enter an address near where you wish to start your business. Copy down the Census Tract number.  If you wish to get data for more than one census tract, repeat these steps and note down the tract numbers. Close the box with the grey border.
  3. From the left hand side of the page select the light blue "Topics" bar.
    1. When it expands, click on "Dataset".  Select "2015 ACS 5-year estimates".  "Your Selections" box in the upper left corner should have 2015 ACS 5-year estimates listed with a blue and white X at the end.
    2. In the same box, click Product Type and then click Data Profile.  Close the box with the grey border.
  4. Next select your geography.  Click on the light blue "Geographies" bar. Click on the "List" tab. Under Geographic Type, select "Census Tract".  Now select your state, county, and census tract number. To select multiple census tracts press the Ctrl key and click on the desired tract numbers. Click "Add to Your Selections". The selected Census Tract number/s will appear in "Your Selections" box on the top left of the page. Close the box with the grey border.
  5. On the Search Results screen select the first four results DP02-DP05 for Demographic, Social, Economic, and Housing characteristics for the Census tract/s. Click "View" to see the tables. Use the dark arrows on the top right of the page to scroll between tables. You may print or download tables by using the appropriate buttons.

WomenBiz.gov - A gateway for women-owned business selling to the federal government.

Minority Business Development Agency - Provides business education information, services, and helps minority business clients obtain contracts and capital awards.
